Run by a certified Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) Coach, this program is not the RSB program (a very impressive program, one of the few that I found to be effective with tangible results within a relatively short period) but adheres to similar principles, integrating Boxing drills as well as adapted movement sequences and drills from TaiChi and KungFu Wushu forms.
The exercises in this program are meant to stimulate the brain to create more connections, and increase Dopamine levels naturally. The training is difficult and unforgiving, but it shows results. This is by no means a way to cure Parkinson, but it should help to slow down the effects of the disease and maintain a respectable standard of living. I find that the younger one starts to train, the better and longer lasting the outcome can be. This is not about coming to a class once or twice a week - and be done with it. It's about developing and disciplining yourself to do the hard work everyday by yourself too! especially when there is no class or when on "holiday". Same applies to the various other disabilities and older age challenges, be it physical, or psychological.
There is no actual fighting or hitting others, only drills using equipment and accessories, using protective gloves, bags etc...
